2/3 Year update for 21 destination Travel Challenge

The end of August marked two thirds of the year gone, which meant I’m two thirds of the way through my challenge, having visited 15 towns/cities and over 5 countries I am slightly ahead of plan and having spent £1334 I’m only 56p over budget. Below you will find all the numbers if you are interested.

These last few months have been a bit hit and miss, my poor mum has really been suffering with complications and side effects from her cancer treatment and I’ve been doing my best to be at home with her as and when I can be. I decided at the beginning of the year that I wouldn’t be having any long, far away holidays, for that exact reason and that was how this challenge came about really.

However on a more positive note lets look at some of the fantastic places I have managed to visit.

At the start of May we headed down to Margate to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in a fantastic Airbnb and visited lots of lovely local site, including seeing Craig Charles play a set at Dreamland, to hear more about our trip, Click HERE.

At the end of May we went to Southampton, this was a bittersweet trip as it was to say goodbye to my best friend who was moving to Spain.

June saw us heading off on a camping trip to the forest of dean which you can read all about HERE

Later in June we visited Cornwall, this was a really great and relaxing trip. For our favourite places click HERE

In July we boarded a plane for surprisingly my first ever trip to mainland Spain, to visit my best friend in her new home, this again was an amazing trip and you can read about it HERE.

August was quite a quiet month as I spent most of it staying with my mum, however we did manage a quick trip to Bristol for the world famous balloon fiesta, post coming soon.

As you can see, I still need to visit 6 Towns or Cities in 2 other countries to meet my quota of 21 places in 7 countries this year, with 4 months left and a budget of £666, is that possible? I think I can do it! Watch this space.

Recap of the challenge: At the start of 2018 I set myself the £2000 travel challenge, to visit 7 countries and 21 towns/cities in 2018 with a budget of no more than £2000. To be clear that budget covers transport from my front door & back again, accommodation & insurance. The budget is for me personally and not for the whole party I travel with. Also food and spending money is not included in the budget as I would be eating and doing things regardless of where I am in the world.

Yes exactly, I’ve never been one to do things on a budget before so it’s been a shock to the system. 90% of the places we’ve stayed have been lovely though an would stay there again x
