At the start of May I headed to Brentwood in Essex to have lunch at the infamous Sugar Hut restaurant as featured on hit ITV show The Only Way Is Essex or TOWIE.
The reason I chose to visit Brentwood was to see my lovely friend Kerry, but also, to fan girl over the sites from TOWIE. I don’t know what I was expecting but Brentwood has a nice but totally normal high street. Some of the TOWIE cast are business owners so Kerry gave me a little tour, we saw Chloe’s Beauty Bar, Lucy’s dress shop and Minnies Boutique and also the Gemma Collins Boutique that I spent quite a while in and bought a beautiful dress.
The service that we received in the Gemma Collins store (Not from the GC herself as she wasn’t there) but from the lady working in the shop was fantastic. She was really friendly and helpful without being pushy. She helped me find the perfect dress and even went to another building to find my size as it wasn’t out on display. I was very happy with my purchase as it’ll be perfect for a wedding I’m going to in August.
Then we headed over to The Sugar Hut, which is famous for being a nightclub featured in TOWIE, we however were here for the roast beef. The building itself is an old coach house and one of the oldest buildings in Brentwood but inside it is very modern. Lots of velour and mirrors, it has a very luxury feel. The food was lovely, the desserts were especially tasty and again the service was great here. It is a little pricey for what you get but it was worth it for the experience.
Kerry then took me to see the beautiful and ornate cathedral, this is free to walk around and very serene, just a few meters away from the hustle and bustle of the high street and certainly worth a visit.
We spent the rest of our visit drinking Starbucks and wandering around the shops.
We didn’t spot any of the cast of TOWIE on this occasion, but there’s always next time!
